Franck and Jesse and Me

Franck and his Kymco Grand Vista 250.

Jesse and his Vespa PX150.

Some guy with a shaved head and a BRU.

North of Beech Woods... see the steeple?

Looking out over Highway 100 (not visible) at some church (behind the fern, dammit) in Bellevue.

People In The Woods

Percy Warner Park, today. Only two others accompanied me, 'cause it looked like rain (hence I did not strap on the DV cam, either).

The Key

... to mounting the DV cam (which now has an inexpensive filter installed to protect the lens from bug hits).
.

Part of Thursday's Ride

The Tony Hawk helmet cam is almost useless, but here's what it can do.

Can't wait to figure out a way to mount the DV cam. At least you can see where it's pointing, unlike the toy THHC.

The Ride Map, Sunday, 7/19/09

Click to embiggen.

Not as-planned -- I screwed up, and we did have to backtrack a couple of times to get back on this route, but given the waypoints, I think this is pretty accurate (minus the backtracks). The green is the first pass; the purple, the second pass (Marty wanted to get some photos over by the Steeplechase area). All the photos in the previous post were taken at the Beech Woods Picnic Area scenic overlook or the Steeplechase Cross Country area.

Ambitious Ride Today @ PWP

Hoping to cover about 70% of the pavement in Percy Warner Park. And it's a SUPER nice day for it.

Meet us at Centennial Park, in front of the Parthenon at 2 p.m.!

UPDATE: Photos (from Marty, who had the only camera, today)! Click to embiggen.

Marty and Andy.

Andy and Jeffraham.

These photos were taken at the same spot where I got these DV grabs back in late May. UPDATE: This spot is known as Luke Lea Heights, and it was not where I though it was in the park!

Non embiggenable:

I don my helmet, as Andy looks on.

Marty speeds by the Steeplechase grounds.

Hamming it up, looking drunk.

Last Stop Of The Day

Edwin Warner Park.

She locked her scooter key under the seat. I was dispatched with eight keys.

The very last one I tried opened the seat latch. The day? Saved.

From Above

In which you can see the effectiveness of Mothers Back-to-Black, as applied to the back of the legshield and headset (and nowhere else, yet... that's as far as I got before the breakdown).

Thanks For Comin' Out

We had ten scooters (11 people) show up at Bobbie's Dairy Dip today... only seven people (six scooters) braved Points West, though (Kerry and his lady had previous plans for the afternoon, and Willy's Plumgood PX150 started acting up just as he pulled in; and the rain which started just as we pulled into Norm's River Roadhouse caused Mark and his lady decide to head back to town).

Here's Mark's ladyfriend and Michael.

Kerry's ladyfriend, and Kerry on the far right.

Marty, Franck, Michael, Nora and I all made it into Norm's for PBRs and conversation about socialist Europe, and we got a photo of a mama turkey and her chicks. There was no acoustic jam, no horseshoes, but we killed a couple of hours, shootin' the shit, anyway.

Awesome

Big Red Ugly is back, baby.

With a nearly-completely-new top end, I'll have to baby it for a while, and get it broken in, but so far, so good. Less vibration and less noise than ever, and after an initial issue burping a bit of air out of and adding additional coolant to the cooling system (which was causing the temp gauge to swing around), it's been aces all afternoon.

Very, very happy.

Thanks again to Josephine for loaning me her SYM Fiddle, and doing all the paperwork and parts ordering, and to James, Chris and Josh for all their hard work on the bike. I think we got 'er licked!
